Rats on a Sinking Ship

I'm sure most of you came here today to see my reaction about last night's game.

Will Coop watch a game ever again this season?

Will Coop ever write another article for Flushing University again? (and catch my latest one here)

Will Coop call out the boys and name more members of the Big Pussy Posse?

Will Coop find it in her heart to root for the boys again?

The answers are:

Yes

Yes

No

and for everything that is good and holy OF COURSE I still root for my boys.

I remember several Yankees fans at the beginning of the season when they started out...not so hot...many of them were like - forget these guys. I'm done. F-ARod. Fire Torre. I'm cancelling my MLB package for cable. Etc, etc.

I don't want to sound like that. Ever.

So if this team has the most monumental collapse ever in the history of sports...

I'll be there to root for them. Good or bad, I'm in for the long haul.

I won't take a Mets sabbatical for the rest of the season. Hell, I might even WATCH THE GAME somewhere tonight!!!

But whatever the case, I might rethink my season ticket options for next year. But that's about it for now.

All I know is - I can glean one positive from last night's game.

NO ERRORS.

Hallelujah!!!

Coop,
Mets are digging their own graves. Losing to Philly is one thing; losing to the Nationals by giving up 21 runs the past 2 games against the worst offense in the NL is another.

One good thing. With the meltdown, it seems like old times. Wonder what Art Howe is doing these days?

The Nationals look like the 2001 Yankees out there. It's ridiculous. It's kind of sad that if your pitcher could have only given up 6 runs you'd be happy.

Can Pedro pitch every day til the season is over?

C'mon guys...I'm trying to keep things light! (Although I did tell blog junkie Dykstraw to jump last night, LOL)

Aaarrggghhh, is all I can say, Coop. I sent ding dong a lengthy email this morning describing my feelings perfectly, and rather than trying recreate it, here it is:

"Face it, ding dong—the team is a mess. The bullpen is basically nonexistent, the bloom of the return of Pedro is now off the rose, and they’re back to their chaotic up and down state. I almost hope they blow it, I really do. LOL They don’t deserve to win, really. They’re not nearly hungry enough, not most of them, anyway, and they seem to think they’re somehow entitled. I just don’t have a lot of faith in them, or in Willie, really, at this point, that this can be salvaged. And I’m not even sure I want it to; perhaps if they blow it, some serious changes will be made. Because I’m afraid if they somehow salvage this thing, and do reasonably well in the post-season, we’ll be looking at a lot of the same mess next year. LOL

What am I talking about – OF COURSE I want them to turn this thing around! But I just had to say what I said, because for a fleeting couple of minutes, that’s exactly how I felt, lol."

Clear like mud? LOL Well, that's about what I'm thinking right now.

Yeah, if they collapse, rethinking the amount of money to spend on them next year is the only way have to voice our displeasure. It's a sticky situation right now for the Mets, because with the Goodbye Shea, Hello Citi Field, they're going to see the tickets no matter what, they have to be careful not to overlook the quality of the entertainment out there.

That said, they're not going to collapse. Phillies will lose tonight, I have plenty of faith in that.

Yea Coop! That's the attitude! I'll be right there with you, watching this team either right the ship or sink into chokedom...this could be what we've been begging for all these years - an 1-95 PENNANT RACE! (careful what you wish for, haha)

Gotta be positive. The Cardinals and Tigers were the worst teams down the stretch last year and they both made it into the World Series.

Anything can happen. We just gotta get to the postseason. Gotta stop the bleeding first.
