Panama...By Van Halen

The title is in honor of two things: 1.) my favorite episode ever of Drew Carey's Show and 2.) Van Halen (*not* Van Hagar) announced a reunion tour. Of course, it won't be the same without "The Other Guy" Michael Anthony (very underrated bassist, but not nearly as good as my boy John Taylor from Duran Duran), but hey...I heard Wolfie Van Halen (Eddie and Valerie's son) is pretty good.

Anyway, I don't have much to write about today. Well I do, but I'm just tired of being negative about the team - I mean, I do enough of that over here. And I really don't have any Cawfee Tawk topics, but I do have a few announcements. So here goes.

One is check out Flushing University columns for my weekly Tuesday morning piece. This week's teaser: it's about Willie. Sort of. Make sure if you stop by, say The Coop sent ya!!

Two: SNY is hosting a viewing party for the Mets vs Bucs game tomorrow night at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone, doors at 6:30 pm. Join The Coop with Mz. Zoe, SNK or as she is known over at FU "Ya Gotta Believe!," and a few others.

And no, contrary to popular belief, the female bloggerati will not be showcasing bikinis. Ron Darling will be there in a Speedo though...Kidding. Not about the Ron Darling part. Be there or be square...but if you DO come, find me. I'll gladly let you buy me a beer.

Peace.

Oh...Van Halen is like what I wrote about the Apple...

Something that is old and once was good is not necessarily good anymore.

Roth has lost the ability to sing and if you got a chance to hear his country version of Van Halen songs you might be upset at the thought of a comeback tour.

feh on SNY and their co-sponsorship poor choice of venues.

I'll believe the Reunited Van Halen are touring when I see it. I seem to recall several of these "reunions" over the past two decades that never made it out of the gate.

Sorry to say, I'll be missing yet another Mets-related bar event. Please post some pictures. Let's hope the team fares better at PNC than it did last season.

Yes Bookied, but they had a press conference and everything! To boot, Wolfgang's mom is also going on the tour (who is obviously Eddie's ex wife and Van Halen's version of Yoko)....what could possibly go wrong?

I dunno, now that Eddie is sober and Valerie is thin, I don't think they can be stopped. On the other hand, I would need a whole lotta drugs and fatty foods to spend a year traveling around with David Lee Roth. If you told me Van Halen was reuniting with Gary Cherones, THEN I'd be excited. Next to Bon Jovi, Extreme was probably the best rock n roll band of the past 30 years.

Bookie- you're kidding, right?

I mean, seriously, that has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read in my life!!

I was kidding. I meant that "More Than Words" is probably the best rock n roll SONG of the past 30 years. Everybody knows that the best band was White Lion. Enjoy the Zone!

Coop, I guess you're not around ol' FU this morning due to, ah, excessive partying last night, maybe? LOL *guffaw*

And if so... GOOD FOR YOU!

I'm assuming you'll update us all on how the evening went... when you're able to, that is *snicker*!

So, I see you picked up on my new nickname for Stef, huh? She's so damned positive and upbeat, I just thought "Ya Gotta Believe" was tres fitting and appropriate!

As for you and I, and those negatories of our ilk, I'd rather not say... lol!

Allrighty folks, how the heck do we say this guy's name?????

PITTSBURGH (TICKER) -- The New York Mets signed Dutch third baseman Marinus Vernooij on Wednesday.

Vernooij attended high school at Thorbocke in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and played for the Dutch first division Door Tridents last season, leading the team in RBI as they won their league championship.

"I am very thrilled and excited to be given the opportunity to play for a major league organization like the New York Mets," Vernooij said. "The Mets are a great organization with a lot of good players, and I am going to work hard to become one of them."

The 18-year-old Vernooij played for the Dutch Junior National Team this year, winning a bronze medal at the European Championships. He was selected to the Dutch National Team at every level since he was seven years old.

"We are being very aggressive in the international market, and Marinus is an indication of that," Mets director of international operations Ismael Cruz said. "The Mets are going to be players in every market where baseball is played."
